Deacon Emily   Pinckney

Deacon Emily Pinckney was born on November 23, 1920 in Walterboro, South Carolina, daughter of the late Paul and Marion Richardson. She was the youngest of 14 siblings and the last to leave Walterboro, South Carolina and settle in Chester, Pennsylvania.

She married Ned Pinckney on July 29, 1940 and moved to New York City. They had three daughters, Elizabeth Drummond, Patricia Pinckney and Juanita Garry and raised one granddaughter, Virginia Maxwell.

Deacon Emily worshipped and was very active at Rendall Memorial Presbyterian Church in Harlem, New York. She was devoted for more than 55 years.

Deacon Emily's favorite pastime was to be able to attend church services on Sundays and listening to Gospel Spirituals. She also enjoyed cooking, sewing, and traveling to visit her family and friends.
She will be joining her husband, Ned and two of her daughters, Elizabeth and Patricia in glory.

Deacon Emily leaves many to mourn, her daughter, Juanita and son-in-law, Lonnie Garry; 7 grandchildren: Virginia Maxwell and son-in-law, Benjamin, Victoria Smith, Jean Drummond, Charles Drummond, Dawn McFadden and son-in-law, Barry, Dashan Pinckney and Hasan Garry; 17 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
